PV Portal is a community for solar professionals to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another. In order to maintain a positive and helpful atmosphere for all members, we have established a few guidelines for participation.
Number 1 Rule: Firstly, we encourage all members to contribute to the community by providing helpful insights and assistance to their peers. We ask that you strive to give back to the community as much as you take from it, in order to foster a sustainable and supportive environment.
Secondly, participation in the PV Portal community is a requirement for membership. We aim to keep our community small and intimate, and therefore we expect all members to be actively engaged in discussions and contribute to the community in a meaningful way. If you do not participate regularly, your membership may be at risk of being removed to make room for someone on our waiting list who is more engaged.
To ensure a healthy and vibrant community, we may occasionally need to make decisions about membership based on quality metrics and account restrictions. While we do not disclose the exact methods we use to make these decisions, they are based on a combination of metrics and manual review. We consider factors such as:
1. the number and frequency of discussions posted,
2. the helpfulness of comments and thoughts left on other threads, and offline engagement in the PV Portal community.
If your account becomes restricted, you may need to demonstrate a long-term commitment to contributing back to the community in order to have your posting privileges reinstated.
In order to maintain a professional atmosphere, we require all members to display a legitimate, qualifying business in their profile. A qualifying business is any company or organization related to the solar industry, such as an installer or distributor. If you are a solar professional, you must provide the URL of your company's website or LinkedIn profile. If you are an installer who works primarily via W9, you may include“Self Employed” instead.
Additionally, all members must use their real names and a current headshot photo for their profile picture. Avatars, illustrations, or pet photos are not permitted.
We do not allow any self-promotion of goods or services within the PV Portal community. This includes posts, private messages, emails, phone calls, or any other form of communication. Any self-promotional content will be immediately removed and may result in the cancellation of your membership.
We reserve the right to cancel any member's account at any time and for any reason, at our sole discretion. We also reserve the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
